Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in partnership with Jerónimo Martins Group, presents the first executive degree in Commercial and Retail Management, a significant milestone in the Portuguese educational landscape.

This new degree, which has been operating since September 2023, represents a strategic advance in online education, offering a unique opportunity for professionals already in the workforce to improve their management skills or advance their careers.

One of the main highlights of this initiative is the distance learning model, which combines synchronous and asynchronous strategies to provide an educational experience tailored to students' needs. This allows professionals without a university degree, working in commercial and retail areas, to access quality higher education regardless of their geographic location or work schedules.

The partnership between CATÓLICA-LISBON and the Jerónimo Martins Group is a key element for the success of this degree. The Jerónimo Martins Group funds 80% of the annual tuition fees for employees attending the course, demonstrating its commitment to continuous training and professional development of its staff. Additionally, the collaboration between the company and the university resulted in the creation of customized content adapted to the specific needs of the sector.

Alexandre Faria, manager of a Pingo Doce store and one of the students of this degree, shares his experience highlighting the personal and professional impact of this training: "With this experience, I have gained a broader perspective on the operation of commerce and retail. The faculty has been fundamental in this process, providing not only knowledge but also practical tools to apply in my day-to-day activities. This journey has been challenging, especially balancing time between professional demands and studies, but I feel I am growing both personally and professionally."

Similarly, Cristina do Carmo Pinto, a student and Human Resources Coordinator, emphasizes the solidarity and cooperation among colleagues and the support from professors: "What I have liked the most is the fellowship behind all my colleagues; we are always ready to help each other. The support from the professors has also been top-notch."

Miguel Machado, Commercial Manager in the Export Department at Recheio, expresses his expectation to continue developing professionally: "My expectation is to open, to learn, to continue developing as a professional, applying the knowledge we have been learning from the professors to the business reality."

This degree represents a unique opportunity for professionals in the commercial and retail sector in Portugal. With an innovative approach, adapted content, and the support of a strategic partnership, this initiative promises to empower professionals for the challenges of the modern market.

Enrollment for the 2nd edition of the Executive Degree in Commercial and Retail Management, for the academic year 2024/2025, opened on June 4th for the general public. Candidates who have completed the 12th grade or equivalent qualification and pass the entrance exam at CATÓLICA-LISBON or the national math exam (A, B, or MACS) can apply.
