Program Structure
The Master of Science in Finance (Post-Experience) is organized into Finance Core Courses, and Elective Courses, providing students with a balanced curriculum that blends theory and practice with a hands-on approach.PRE-COURSES
CATÓLICA-LISBON offers to all students that enroll in the finance programs the possibility to complete pre-courses designed to strengthen the foundations in several key areas before the program starts:
- Advanced Excel
- Introduction to VBA
- Introduction to Finance
- Introduction to Accounting
These are mostly optional online courses that present a great degree of flexibility, adaptability to master student’s needs, and availability. To provide the best possible experience, students benefit from the help of an expert throughout each course. The Advanced Excel course prepares students to the Microsoft Excel Certification.
Coursework by Specialization
The coursework for the Finance program consists of Core Courses, Specialization Elective Courses, and Elective Finance Courses. Apart from that, Career Accelerator Lab and LERNE Sessions are also part of this coursework.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGIES WORKSHOP (0 ECTS)
You should enroll in the Research Methodologies Workshop (mandatory requirement) before the dissertation period.
Dissertation Project
The Master's dissertation is the culmination of your master's program. This is when you build on the knowledge and skills acquired during the program to develop an individual project on a topic that resonates with your career aspirations and helps you excel in an area you find professionally relevant. At CATÓLICA-LISBON there are two models for dissertation supervision – an Independent Process, or a project developed in the Dissertation Seminar.
Students have the option to enroll in the summer dissertation seminar, which allows the completion of both coursework and dissertation in 12 months, with only the dissertation defense occurring 2 months after.
Most of our students develop their industry or academic research in a dissertation seminar supervised by an expert in a specific area.

Student Professional Clubs & Associations are a vital part of the Master experience in CATÓLICA-LISBON. Groups of students established clubs in their areas of interest. The goal of each club differs, but most aim to develop the professional skills of their student members and to promote connections of the students with business leaders and organizations around the world.
Each year the clubs develop various events and activities, such as seminars, and conferences with well-known speakers, and organize open days in companies. The clubs can also work on specific projects with other university departments and knowledge centers. The clubs are supported by the Careers & Talent Office.
