Message from the Dean - COVID-19

Sexta, Março 13, 2020 - 18:40

Dear members of the academic community,

CATÓLICA-LISBON was informed of a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 of a staff member. This staff member belongs to an internal team that works in a restricted area with no direct contact with students or faculty. The origin of the infection is from a personal trip to Spain.

Face-to-face classes are suspended, the entire staff of the School was sent home and the building is closed for desinfection. The direct contacts of the confirmed case were mapped, internal and external, and informed of the situation to adopt the necessary precautions. One staff member from the same team was tested and confirmed positive. We are carefully monitoring the health situation of all our staff, who are continuing their work from home.

The safety of our students, staff and faculty are our paramount concern and we are implementing all necessary measures to ensure that safety in close collaboration with the Portuguese Health Authorities. For that purpose, the Católica-Lisbon building will remain closed until April 9th.

Given the COVID-19 Pandemic and the closure of all schools by national authorities, international students are free to return to their home countries, if they wish, until April 13th. Updated information will be provided as soon as it is available.

I want to thank the extraordinary courage and dedication of our staff, who are working from home, despite the events, to ensure the highest quality experience to our students and clients. A special word also to our faculty who are diligently adapting their teaching and evaluation format to the new situation of remote learning. To our students, we kindly ask for your patience and thank you for your collaboration as we all adjust to this unprecedented situation.

With wishes of safety and well-being to our community and all our families.

Filipe Santos, Dean of CATÓLICA-LISBON.
