The Strategy, Organizations and Entrepreneurship dynamic and productive group at CATÓLICA-LISBON has been at the forefront of new science being done in this field. The researchers focus on the relationship between strategy and value creation, the impact of entrepreneurship - both in firms and in the social environment -, ethical and strategic challenges that companies face, social enterprise and social innovation, and on a variety of organizational topics that spans from teams and organizational justice all the way to cultural psychology.
Since 2017, researchers have authored over 40 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals. Their work has been published in top journals like the Academy of Management Journal, Management Science, Organization Studies, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Human Relations, Journal of Management Studies, Research Policy, Academy of Management Review, and Journal of International Business Studies.
Their high-quality research has received prestigious awards and recognition from organizations like the Academy of Management, Stanford University, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship (World Economic Forum) and EGOS – European Group for Organizational Studies. The group’s research insights are among the most cited in the growing field of management of social enterprises. These feed into innovative degree and executive education programs on Ethics, Social Innovation, Management of Ecclesiastical Organizations, Social Entrepreneurship and Impact Investing, to name a few.
The S&O research group also take seriously their roles in serving the scientific community, having worked as reviewers and editorial board members of some of the most important journals in management and psychology such as the Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Management Studies, Academy of Management Journal, European Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal.
Members of this group are also associated with several of CATÓLICA-LISBON’s Research Centers and Laboratories. For instance, the Center for Technological Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CTIE) funds research and is also an active player in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, the Center for Responsible Business & Leadership (CRB) brings social innovation to the context of corporate strategy through research, teaching, and consulting, the Yunus Social Innovation Center (YSIC) aims to promote and disseminate social innovation as a tool for solving social and environmental problems, with a focus on the Portuguese society, and the CATÓLICA-LISBON Digital & Sustainable Innovation Lab (DSIL) empower businesses to create wellbeing in urban areas via research on digital technologies, novel business models and sustainable values.
