Vasco de Mello (1956) is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Brisa – Auto-Estradas de Portugal, S.A. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Executive Committee of José de Mello Capital, S.A., a holding of one of the main Portuguese groups, with significant participations in Transport Infrastructure Concessions (Brisa), Chemical Indusovatry (CUF), Health Care (José de Mello Saúde), Engineering and Technologies (Efacec), and Energy (EDP). From 2007 to 2010, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of BCSD – Business Council for Sustainable Development. Since 2010, he is Vice-President of the Board and, from 2005 to 2008, President of the General Council. From 2008 to 2010, he was Vice-President of the Board of Founders of the CRP – Centro Rodoviário Português.
He was a Member of the Board of Directors of Banco Comercial Português and a Member of the Supervisory Board of Millennium Bank Poland, as well as a Member of the Supervisory Board of EDP-Electricidade de Portugal, S.A., a Member of the Board of Directors of SIC, and a Member of the Board of Directors of Abertis Infraestruturas, S.A.
From 1992 to 2000, he was also Chairman of Banco Mello and Insurance Company Império and held several Executive positions in companies of the group. From 1978 to 1980, he worked at Citicorp in New York and at Banco Crefisul de Investimentos in São Paulo, Brazil. In 1978 he completed a B.S. degree in International Business Administration at the American College of Switzerland.
