Degree in Agronomy from Universidade de Évora, with a postgraduate degree in Oenology from Universidade Católica do Porto. He developed his career as an oenologist in several wine producers - Esporão, Companhia das Lezírias, Pegos Claros and Fundação Abreu Callado. He was president of IVV – Instituto da Vinha e do Vinho. He was CEO of Bacalhôa. He is currently Chairman of the Board of ViniPortugal / Wines of Portugal.
