António is an Professor (adjunct) and the Executive Director of the Center for Sustainable Finance at Católica Lisbon School of Economics and Business since 2024. Prior to this role, António had an extensive and successful career in Wall Street, spanning 20 years, including the last 8 as a Managing Director at BlackRock[1] in New York and London, managing very large global teams focused on portfolio management and sustainable finance and reporting directly to BlackRock’s Global Executive Committee.
António serves on the board and advises several institutions and is a regular lecturer at the London Business School. António is also the President of Clube de Vela Atlântico, in Porto, one of the oldest and most successful sailing clubs in Portugal.
Antonio has a PhD in Economics from Northwestern University (Chicago, USA) and was a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Portfolio Management from 2011 to 2022. Antonio published extensively on portfolio management quantitative models and risk management. He presented his research at major Official Institutions (such as the European Central Bank), Academic Institutions (such as MIT and Darden) and Conferences (such as the GARP Annual Convention).
While not working, António loves spending time with family, reading about everything and preferably near the ocean, sailing both in- and off-shore.
