CATÓLICA-LISBON celebrates the election of our Rector, Isabel Capeloa Gil, from Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP), as President of the International Federation of Catholic Universities (FIUC).

It was during the 26th General Assembly of FIUC in Maynooth, Ireland, that Isabel Capeloa Gil became the first woman in history to lead FIUC, the oldest association of universities in the world, founded in 1924.

This is also the first time that Portugal is part of an IFUC management body. The Rector of the UCP succeeds the Jesuit Pedro Rubens, Rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Pernambuco.

FIUC gathers the largest Catholic universities in the world, such as Boston College, Georgetown University, KU Leuven, University of Notre Dame, Cattolica del Sacro Cuore University of Milan, among many others of enormous global prestige.
