The Center for Sustainable Finance (CSF) is a CATÓLICA-LISBON initiative aiming to provide world-class expertise on the area where Finance goes beyond to build a more sustainable world.
The CSF is the first of its kind in Portugal and one of the first in Europe, marking CATÓLICA-LISBON’s legacy of producing top-tier cutting-edge knowledge.
Our purpose is to research the role Finance has in addressing the most pressing (inter)generational challenges of our times – where it can empower better resource and capital allocation decisions.
Understanding this role and acting upon it will foster more desirable outcomes for our Economy, Society and Planet – moving us closer to a Sustainable Home.

Main Goals
Provide world class expertise in Sustainable Finance by:
A. Contributing to the rigorous academic study and knowledge building in the area of Sustainable Finance, establishing world class research that grounds our understanding of these topics
B. Participating in the acceleration of solutions to the challenges identified, by working across stakeholders, with a particular focus on the European and Portuguese context
C. Fostering the learning and advancement of capabilities in focus themes, across all economic agents, especially new generations of professionals and researchers
