The challenges of globalization, sustainability and digital transformation, along with the context of uncertainty and volatility worsened by the Covid-19 pandemic, force us to rethink the business models for the internationalization, the relationship with the client and the management of talent, among other central topics. All of these reasons furthered the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and the Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics to launch a Platform for the Internationalization, with the objective of leveraging the internationalization and the growth of Portuguese companies. It is a collaborative initiative that envisages the sharing of knowledge and the exploration of synergies.
The Platform for the Internationalization of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa starts with the participation of three landmark Portuguese companies in the context of internationalization which are included in the founding core of this project: Sumol-Compal, Delta and the Tecnimede Group. These companies have a solid international experience, but are open to new models of internationalization. According to Margarida Ramalho, invited lecturer of Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Executive Director for the Initiative, “from the reality of the Portuguese companies we are going to produce knowledge and do international benchmarking. The companies of the founding core are going to be our first case studies and pilot projects”. This initiative is of national and multi-sector scope, aiming all companies and, especially, mid size companies with a high potential of growth through internationalization.
The Platform for the Internationalization intends, thus, in collaboration with the companies that take already part in the founding core, to create appealing approaches to develop the expertise of the current company leaders and encourage the new generation of managers to embrace international careers in Portuguese companies.
Miguel Athayde Marques, Vice-Rector of Universidade Católica, Professor of Management and Scholar Director for the Initiative, points out that “the platform was conceived for the benefit of the Portuguese business ecosystem, but will benefit the university as well, fulfilling its formative and society-transforming mission”.
The Platform for the Internationalization – CATÓLICA INTERNATIONL BUSINESS PLATFORM – is going to be presented on 30th of March, by 17h, in the digital format, with the presence of SUMOL-COMPAL, of DELTA and of Tecnimede Group.
