Filipe Santos, Dean of CATÓLICA-LISBON, and Professors Ilídio Barreto and René Bohnsack were among the most cited professors in the world in 2023 in the scientific area of “Business & Management”, according to Stanford University's “World's Top Scientists” ranking. The three CATÓLICA-LISBON professors are in the elite group of 2% of the most influential global scientists with the greatest impact on advanced management knowledge. 

Filipe Santos, Dean of CATÓLICA-LISBON, is Professor of Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation and has been named one of the world's most influential researchers for the 6th consecutive year. His award-winning research focuses on how entrepreneurs create new markets, develops the role of social innovation in the economy and explains how companies combine profit with impact to create a more sustainable world. His research has been cited more than 15,000 times (Google Scholar) and is published in the most prestigious management journals.

Ilídio Barreto, who had already made the ranking last year, is an Associate Professor at CATÓLICA-LISBON, where he teaches Strategy, Creativity and Strategic Entrepreneurship, which are also his areas of scientific research. In recent years he has published papers in the most reputable international scientific journals in Management. His scientific article “Navigating Uncharted Waters: How Executives Originate High-Quality Ideas for Strategic Responses to Unprecedented Shocks”, published in 2023 in the Academy of Management Review, contains a revolutionary theory that suggests new ways of thinking in the fields of Strategy and Creativity. 

René Bohnsack, Associate Professor in Strategy and Innovation at CATÓLICA-LISBON, is a member of this ranking for the first time. He researches the commercialization of sustainable and digital technologies and how business models can accelerate this process, having published his research in the best international management and innovation journals. His current research focuses on token-based business models, competition in digital business ecosystems and the role of digital technologies in the sustainable development of business models.

The 6th edition of this ranking by the prestigious Stanford University analyzed 22 scientific areas and 174 sub-areas, according to the standard Science-Metrix classification, in two categories: number of citations in the year 2023, and citations over the course of a career. It is carried out in partnership with Scopus, one of the largest databases of abstracts and citations of scientific publications. CATÓLICA-LISBON is proud to have three of its most senior professors in this prestigious ranking of the world's most impactful scientists.
