Dear members of the CATÓLICA-LISBON community,
This week we enter the 2nd phase of the de-confinement process in Portugal and the focus is shifting to the economic recovery process. In this crisis, many people are losing their jobs and will need to re-invent their career. At CATÓLICA-LISBON, we have an extraordinary Career and Talents Office (CTO) with a record of 100% employability of our graduates. I am pleased to share with you that, as part of our We Stand UNITED initiative to support society, our CTO will start offering weekly webinars on employability topics to unemployed people looking for new jobs.
I am also pleased to let you know that our NECEP – Católica-Lisbon Forecasting Lab - won this week the Focus Economics award of Best Analyst Forecast Award 2020 for achieving the world’s most accurate estimate for the 2019 Portuguese GDP. This is a great tribute to the NECEP team and the quality of economic analysis of our faculty, a very valuable asset for all of us in the months to come.
If you missed last week’s inaugural digital Dean’s Speaker Series, with Carlos Moedas you can listen to this enlightening conversation in our You Tube channel. It is well worth your time!
Our digital conferences will continue this Tuesday, May 19th at 17h, with one the most brilliant Portuguese Economists in the world, Prof. Sérgio Rebelo from the Kellogg School of Management. Sérgio, who is our graduate and former faculty member, will talk about “Perspectives for the Global Economy in times of COVID-19”. Please register here.
On Thursday, May 21th at 17.30h, we celebrate the 2nd edition of the Women Entrepreneurship Award, organized by our Center for Technological Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Join us to listen to the live pitches of our three finalists, all great examples of women entrepreneurial leaders.
Next week, May 26th at 17h, our digital conference will feature Prof. Manuel Rodrigues, Finance Professor from King’s College London, and former Secretary of State for Finance of Portugal, speaking on “Economic Recovery for Portugal and Europe”.
We have much to share at CATÓLICA-LISBON and #WeStandUNITED. United as a community and united in support of a healthy economy capable of fulfilling the needs and aspirations of all citizens.
Filipe Santos, Dean of CATÓLICA-LISBON
