Lisbon Sustainability Week (LSW26) returns for its second edition to reflect on the future of the economic and social model. The event will take place from June 29 to July 2 at Católica-Lisbon SBE, Centro Santander, and Unicorn Factory Lisboa, in Lisbon.

Two keynote speakers have already been confirmed: Robert F. Engle, Nobel Laureate in Economics in 2003 and one of the most influential voices in financial market analysis, and John Elkington, widely known for coining a concept that has become a cornerstone of contemporary management: the Triple Bottom Line (People, Planet, Profit).

Organized by the Center for Sustainable Finance and the Center for Responsible Business and Leadership at Católica-Lisbon SBE, in partnership with Fundação Santander Portugal, LSW26 positions itself as an international platform for reflection and action on the future of development models, bringing together diverse perspectives to foster informed, solutions-oriented debate.

“We are at a decisive moment that calls for rethinking the economic development model in light of planetary boundaries and growing social demands. This implies redefining the role of financial markets, public policy, and businesses, while also recognizing society’s collective responsibility in building a more balanced and resilient future. By bringing together diverse perspectives through an international and multidisciplinary panel, we aim to contribute to concrete solutions that address the major challenges of the 21st century,” highlights António Baldaque da Silva, Executive Director of the Center for Sustainable Finance at Católica-Lisbon SBE.

Over the course of four days, the program will feature workshops, masterclasses, academic sessions, and conferences focused on the role of businesses, financial markets, and public policy in the transition toward a more sustainable development model.

The event will bring together more than 30 international leaders and academics, including confirmed speakers such as Christine Schliesser (University of Zurich), Cameron Hepburn (University of Oxford), Nuno Gaspar Oliveira (CEO of BNI – Natural Business Intelligence), Matiss Paegle (BaltCap), Ana Fontoura Gouveia (Banco de Portugal), Mark Hume (BlackRock), Shiva Dustdar (European Investment Bank Institute), and Bernardo Goarmon (Lightsource bp).

The first edition of LSW took place in June 2025 at Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian and brought together more than 600 participants and international leaders. The event, which featured prominent figures such as Ernest Moniz, former U.S. Secretary of Energy, and Sandrine Dixson-Declève, Honorary President of the Club of Rome, fostered interdisciplinary dialogue across science, policy, finance, and business.
