Guest: Luís Amaral, CEO of Eurocash Group, Investor, Entrepreneur and Philanthropist

Professor Filipe Santos, Dean of Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics, has the honour of inviting you to the next conference of the Dean's Speaker Series initiative, on June 16 at 5pm, with the business leader Luís Amaral on the subjects of management in times of pandemic, structural changes in retail, digital transformation, and strategies to achieve a positive social impact.

Bio: Luís Amaral has a degree in Business Administration and Management from CATÓLICA-LISBOA and more than 30 years of experience in management, acquired in several industries and countries.

Luís began his career in 1984 at Unilever Portugal. In 1989 he joined Nissan Portugal as Marketing Director and in 1994 became Board Member, responsible for Sales, Marketing and Logistics. In 1995, Luís went to Poland as the CEO of Jerónimo Martins Poland, developing the company until 1999, when it reached a turnover of over 1 billion EUR. He was then, promoted to the position of a Member of Jerónimo Martins Holding Executive Committee in Lisbon.

In July 2000, Luís Amaral moved to South America, where he launched an Investment Fund. In 2003 he returned to Poland to lead the Management Buy-Out (MBO) of Jerónimo Martins' Eurocash and in 2005 Eurocash entered the Warsaw Stock Exchange and became the leader in wholesale distribution of FMCG products, the 6th largest retailer in Poland, with more than 15,000 stores and 22,500 employees. In 2016, Luís was awarded the CATÓLICA-LISBON's Career Award.

Luís Amaral is also the main shareholder of the online newspaper "Observador", co-founder of the Girl Move Academy and sponsor of the Chair of Social Entrepreneurship of CATÓLICA-LISBON, as well as an activist investor in listed companies and supporter of various business and impact projects. Member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council, Luis Amaral has visited all countries in the world and is active in social networks sharing news under the title "Proud to be Portuguese".
