Today, October 1st, we celebrate World Music Day, a date that honors the power of music as a universal language, capable of uniting cultures and inspiring minds at CATÓLICA-LISBON. To mark this occasion, the members of the CATÓLICA-LISBON Big Band, the institution's first musical band, gathered in the school cafeteria for a brief performance, showing the academic community that music, education, and business can harmoniously coexist.
Led by conductor Eduardo Lála, the band is composed exclusively of members of the academic community, including national and international students from undergraduate and master's programs, as well as faculty members. All of them share a love for music and the stage. Together, they explore a diverse repertoire, performing iconic songs by artists such as Ben E. King, Bill Withers, John Lennon, Amy Winehouse, The Beatles, Coldplay, and Alicia Keys.
Founded three years ago, the band has built a strong reputation and a notable presence at significant university events, such as the 2022 and 2023 Christmas Parties organized by the Rectorate of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, as well as the 2023 Graduation Ceremony.
