If you are enrolled in for the International Master Program and you want to fulfil the International Requirement with an international internship, keep into consideration the following specificities:

  • The internship has to have a minimum duration of 6 weeks (240 hours) in a country other than Portugal and your home country (if not the same);
  • You will need to submit your internship for validation in the Career Network Platform. We highly recommend you do it at least 2 months before defending your thesis. More information can be found in the Internship Validation Manual below.

If you are enrolled in for the International Master Program and you want simply to complete your internship requirement, keep into consideration the following specificities:

  • The internship has to have a minimum duration of 6 weeks (240 hours);
  • You will need to submit your internship for validation in the Career Network Platform. We highly recommend you do it at least 2 months before defending your thesis. More information can be found in the Internship Validation Manual below.

It is all students responsibility to secure their own internships and find suitable opportunities. Nevertheless, the Careers & Talent Office can offer you some recommendations.

Also, if you have questions about Internship Agreements or about working while studying/ doing your thesis, please send an e-mail to careers.clsbe@ucp.pt.

Academic Break (for Internship Purposes)

Expand All Collapse all

Some master's programs may include an internship requirement or an international requirement, that can be fulfilled with an International Internship.
Also, even if you do not have a mandatory internship requirement you can choose to take an Academic Break.

Thus, if you are considering taking an “Academic Break (for Internship Purposes)” during Fall Semester 2024, i.e., from September 2024 to January 2025, please submit the form below until mid-June.

Academic Break - FORM

IMPORTANT: This procedure is for the Academic Break, not to apply for Internships. It is the students' responsibility to secure their own internships and find suitable opportunities. Nevertheless, our colleagues at the Careers & Talent Office can offer you some recommendations. If you need assistance with your Internship search, please send them an e-mail to careers.clsbe@ucp.pt.

After submitting the form, you will be considered to take a break during the entire 1st Semester of 2024-2025. This means:

  • You will be exempt from all academic activities during this specific semester, at the same time, keeping your student status;
  • You will be exempt from paying tuition fees during an entire semester;
  • Nevertheless, you will have to pay the annual enrolment fee, so you can keep your student status and be enrolled in for the academic year.
