Public Economics

7.5 ECTs / Semester / Inglês

The class starts by a brief statistical characterization of the economic importance of the State and the analysis of its budget constraint. The next part of the course deals with some basic concepts of Public Economics: public goods, externalities and the public provision of private goods. This part also deals with the political economy of the choices regarding spending and taxation. The third part of the class covers the economic analysis of taxation and the revenue, efficiency and equity consequences of taxation.
