MSc in Finance Study Plan - FAQs

01. What happens if I use more than 67 ECTS in course work?

In the event of having exceeded the maximum amount of 67 ECTS in coursework allowed in the MSc program, students will have to settle - prior to their thesis defence - the extra cost corresponding to the ECTS in excess. Check the Enrollment and Tuition Fees List for more information.

02. What is the difference between core courses and foundation courses?

The core courses in Finance assure an appropriate preparation in the main areas in Finance including both theory and standard applications and cannot be waived.

The foundation courses are designed to give students a background in business management. Some of these courses can be waived based on previous academic experience.

We suggest that you take the exam during your thesis semester and that you attend 2 modules available for MIF students (master of finance post-experience program) before taking the CFA exam (Ethics and Professional Standards and CFA Level 1 Overview). It is also recommended that you register for the International Financial Reporting Standards course.

11. What happens if I don’t complete the 60 ECTS in two semesters? Do I have to pay more to take courses later?
