Vice-rector of Universidade Católica Portuguesa and professor of Management at Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics. He holds a Doctorate (Ph.D) in Management by the University of Glasgow – School of Financial Studies and a Degree in Management by Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
He is Co-Founder & Academic Director of Católica International Business Platform, an advanced initiative of “active learning”, launched in 2021.
Currently he is the Vice-Chairman of Galp Energia S.A. and a Non-executive Director of Brisa, CR, S.A.
In the past he has been President of the Portuguese Stock Exchange – Euronext Lisbon S.A. and of Interbolsa S.A. and Executive Director of Euronext NV (Stock Exchanges of Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon and Paris and Liffe – London Derivatives Exchange). He has been a member of the Executive Committee of New York Stock Exchange (NYSE Euronext). Previously he had been Executive Director of Caixa Geral de Depósitos S. A., member of the Executive Committe of Jerónimo Martins, SGPS, S.A. and Chairman of ICEP – Investimentos, Comércio e Turismo de Portugal. He has been a visiting professor in Business schools in the United Kingdom and in the Popular Republic of China, in Beijing.
