Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the MSc. in Applied Microbiology at the Faculty of Biotechnology – Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Porto). He is currently co-coordinator of the Post-Graduation course on Enology at the ESB/AESBUC-UCP and is a researcher at the Associated State Laboratory - Center of Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF) where he develops research in the area of wine science. He got his B.Sc. in Biology (scientific-technologique branch) from the University of Porto, Portugal (1988) and his Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology (Microbiology major) from the Universidade Católoca Portuguesa (1996). He teaches biology and microbiology and is a researcher in wine microbiology, food safety and diversity, taxonomy and physiology of food microorganisms. His research interests are Food control and quality, Metabolism and physiology of wine microorganisms / Interaction wine / Pathogenic organisms.
