Professor Nuno Fernandes appointed Chairman of the Board of Auditors of the Bank of Portugal

Nuno Fernandes, Dean of Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics, was appointed Chairman of the Board of Auditors of the Bank of Portugal.

The appointment's order was signed by the Deputy Secretary of State for Finance, Ricardo Mourinho Félix, and published on May 4, 2018, in the government gazette Diário da República. Nuno Fernandes replaces João Costa Pinto who held the same functions at the Bank of Portugal.

The Board of Auditors also includes António Gonçalves Monteiro, member and statutory auditor, and Margarida Paula Calado Neca Vieira de Abreu, member. This team took up office on May 1st and is mandated for three years.

The Board of Auditors of the Bank of Portugal, comprised of three non-executive Board members, is responsible for internal control, internal and external auditing, operations and compliance, reporting of annual financial statements, examining the Bank's vaults and reserves, and risk management.

Nuno Fernandes is the Dean of Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics, as well as Full Professor of Finance and holder of the Amélia de Mello Foundation Chair.
